On March 5, 2024, Sangok Seok, CEO of NAVER LABS, was invited to LEAP 2024 in Saudi Arabia and delivered a keynote speech on “Tech Convergence for Future Cities.” Here are some of the highlights from the speech.
NAVER's technological competitiveness captivates over 10,000 global visitors
“LEAP” is an international technology expo organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia. Often called the “Consumer Electronic Show (CES)” of Saudi Arabia, this global IT event has rapidly grown over the years, even attracting more participants than the CES with 170,000 visitors last year.
LEAP 2024, held under the theme of “Into New Worlds,” attracted more than 1,800 innovative technology companies around the world, showcasing a wide range of cutting-edge technologies such as future energy, space, VR/AR, robotics, smart cities, and more.
Global tech companies, including Google, Apple, Meta, IBM, and NAVER prepared an exhibition in the Big Tech section to introduce technologies such as AI, cloud, and robotics under the concept of “Global Tech Convergence Company.” Saudi Arabia's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Alswaha, showed keen interest in NAVER’s technologies at the exhibition, along with over 10,000 global visitors and partners.
“ARC mind,” the world’s first web platform-based OS for robots
ARC mind is the web platform-based OS for robots, developed by TEAM NAVER as the first in the world. NAVER LABS unveiled it on the occasion of the keynote speech at LEAP 2024.
It is the first OS dedicated and optimized for robots, while many companies have attempted to utilize the web platform environments across different devices.
ARC mind provides countless combinations of services, just as multiple services are available on smartphones via applications. It allows for the application of the latest technology solutions to robot services, including generative AI, mobile payment, and facial and voice recognition. With ARC mind, NAVER LABS aims to the popularization of robots, offering an environment that enables web developers in every corner of the world to easily develop robot services.
We are already witnessing the evolution of smart buildings where robots and humans seamlessly coexist
NAVER’s headquarters, titled 1784, or “the world's first robot-friendly building,” attract the attention of numerous partners. At 1784, more than 100 robots move around the building and interact with people. The technologies and infrastructures necessary to accommodate large-scale robots all come together.
At LEAP 2024, NAVER presented the ARC eye, which provides location and route information; the ARC brain, which manages robots and connects with infrastructures in real time; and the ARC mind. On this occasion, NAVER proved that its innovation extends beyond advancements in robotics to influencing the blueprints of future cities, instilling a strong impression in the minds of Middle Eastern and international entrepreneurs ●
