CEO Choi Soo-yeon expresses excitement over the “AI chip ecosystem” to be jointly created by NAVER and Intel

NAVER has joined hands with Intel to secure the diversity of the AI chip ecosystem and vitalize AI research in Korea. With Intel, a company that produces high-performance, efficient AI accelerator “Gaudi,” NAVER will be establishing the “NAVER Cloud·Intel·Co-Lab (NICL)” to develop different software and engage in industry-academia projects with some 20 research labs and startups in Korea, including KAIST and Seoul National University.
Below is CEO Choi Soo-yeon’s video message for “Intel Vision 2024,” Intel’s conference on business and technology held on April 9, 2024, through which she officially announced NAVER’s partnership with Intel.
“NAVER started as a search engine in Korea in 1999. We are now the number one internet company in Korea, with around 700 million users across the globe. Our global services include WEBTOON and Poshmark in the U.S., and LINE in Japan.
Today at Intel Vision 2024, I’m happy to share about NAVER’s partnership with Intel. NAVER was the third company globally to announce our own hyperscale gen AI model. And for this model to work with our services and ecosystem, powerful and cost-efficient R&D is a must. That’s why NAVER is very much excited about working together with Intel.
I can’t wait to see what NAVER and Intel’s technological synergies can create for a new AI chip environment, and the innovations this will bring.”
Through the partnership with Intel, NAVER will continue to add vitality to Korea’s AI research which has remained rather stagnant due to cost burdens, while fostering a powerful AI ecosystem ●
