The Saudi delegation, including Mayor of Riyadh Faisal bin Ayyaf and the National Housing Company (NHC) CEO, visited NAVER 1784 on October 8 and got a firsthand look at cutting-edge technologies such as digital twin technology that could soon be implemented in Riyadh.
The visit was made in conjunction with the Seoul Smart Life Week, which will be held from October 10. Accompanying Mayor Faisal bin Ayyaf of Riyadh were CEOs of NHC, Balady, Riyadh Holding Company (RHC), and Remat Advanced. NAVER was represented by Choi Soo-yeon, NAVER CEO; Chae Seon-ju, President of ESG and External Policy at NAVER; Kim Yu-won, NAVER Cloud CEO; and Seok Sang-ok, CEO of NAVER LABS.
NHC and Balady, who visited 1784, are both key partners in Saudi Arabia's digital twin platform project. Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, is currently undergoing multiple giga projects as part of its ambitious transformation. The city will also be home to NAVER’s Middle East general corporate entity.
Balady, which operates under Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, provides and operates map-related services, public information, complaint applications, and navigation. RHC is a leading real estate development company in Saudi Arabia.
During their visit to NAVER 1784, Riyadh, NHC, and Balady representatives experienced cutting-edge technologies, including digital twin, and discussed how to utilize and apply these technologies to Saudi Arabia’s future digital twin platform in order to establish more substantial and long-term cooperation. This is the first time CEOs of major partners in the digital twin platform project in Saudi Arabia have visited NAVER 1784. They also discussed ways to utilize NAVER’s diverse services and technologies, including the digital twin platform currently under development.
Meanwhile, NAVER officially launched the digital twin platform project in Saudi Arabia in July 2024. TEAM NAVER plans to build a digital twin platform through mapping and precision 3D modeling and continue developing core services such as urban planning and flood simulation with Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) and Korea Land and Geospatial InformatiX Corporation (LX).
