TEAM NAVER Discusses Collaboration with Leading AI Companies in Brazil and Chile, Accelerating Entry into South America’s AI Market

- Discusses joint business models, including GPU and AI cloud operations, at hyperscale AIDCs being developed by Brazil’s SDC and TDC

- Explores collaboration with Chile’s leading telecom operator and government across SaaS, smart city and public-sector AI transformation projects

August 4, 2026

TEAM NAVER has established a foothold for expansion into South America’s AI infrastructure market through a series of meetings with leading local AI companies during President Lee Jae Myung’s tour of the region.

TEAM NAVER executives, including NAVER CEO Choi Soo-yeon, Koo Dong-hyun, Head of Strategic Planning at NAVER, and Kim Yu-won, CEO of NAVER Cloud, joined the business delegation accompanying President Lee Jae Myung on his three-country tour of South America, holding a series of meetings with executives from leading local AI companies to actively explore collaboration opportunities.

In Brazil, the first stop on the South American tour, TEAM NAVER executives held back-to-back meetings with executives from Scala Data Centers (SDC) and Tecto Data Centers (TDC), operators of large-scale AI data center and cloud businesses.

SDC is developing “Scala AI City,” a hyperscale AIDC campus in Eldorado do Sul in southern Brazil designed to reach an eventual capacity of 4.75 GW, while TDC is developing TGRU1, a high-density data center optimized for AI with capacity of up to 200 MW in Santana de Parnaíba in the São Paulo metropolitan area.

TEAM NAVER, SDC and TDC held in-depth discussions on a joint business model under which TEAM NAVER would directly operate GPU and AI cloud services at AIDCs being developed separately by SDC and TDC, and sell computing capacity to enterprises and AI startups in Brazil and neighboring countries.

The companies also discussed AIDC technology exchange and operational partnerships, drawing on TEAM NAVER’s expertise in uninterrupted operations at GAK Chuncheon and GAK Sejong, high-efficiency liquid-cooling technology, and experience developing GW-scale AI data center projects.

Executives from SDC and TDC praised NAVER’s “full-stack AI” capabilities, citing its experience directly operating every layer of the AI factory—from data centers and GPU clusters to AI platforms, proprietary models and services—and said they would like to move forward with detailed working-level discussions on the joint business model and partnership proposed by TEAM NAVER.

During its subsequent visit to Chile, TEAM NAVER met with executives from Entel, the country’s largest telecom operator—ranked No. 1 in mobile services in Chile and No. 2 in Peru—which also operates digital solutions businesses in areas including enterprise security, cloud and IoT. The two sides discussed cooperation across a range of areas, including SaaS distribution, smart city projects and GPU cluster deployment.

TEAM NAVER executives also met with senior Chilean government officials, including Carolina Rossi, Undersecretary of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation; Rodrigo Durán, Secretary-General of the National Center for Artificial Intelligence (CENIA); and Eduardo Mundt, Chief of Staff to the Undersecretary of Finance, to explore potential cooperation on AI transformation initiatives for the Chilean government and public institutions, as well as the development of a national data center.

At the meeting, TEAM NAVER introduced NAVER Cloud AI solutions currently in operation in public-sector settings, including NAVER WORKS, a government-wide intelligent work management platform, and CLOVA CareCall, an AI-powered check-in call service. Chilean government officials said Chile is likewise exploring a range of public-sector AI transformation initiatives under its “Digital Government Strategy 2030” and expressed strong interest in TEAM NAVER’s public-sector AI solutions.

The officials also noted that NAVER is a provider of large-scale GPUaaS (GPU as a Service) and one of the few key companies worldwide capable of taking a leading role in the sovereign AI business, and encouraged NAVER to take an active interest in and participate in Chile’s planned sovereign AI and computing infrastructure projects.

“South America is emerging as a new hub for global AI infrastructure, driven by abundant energy resources and rapidly growing digital demand,” said NAVER CEO Choi Soo-yeon. “Through this tour, we identified concrete opportunities to combine NAVER’s full-stack AI technology and operational experience with the needs of local governments and major companies. Through follow-up working-level discussions, we will seek to make tangible contributions to the development of related industries in South America, including by helping build AI infrastructure.” (End)
