NAVER CEO Choi Soo-yeon participated in the “AI Action Summit” held in Paris, France, on February 10–11, 2025, where she shared NAVER’s vision for expanding the digital ecosystem’s diversity through AI and supporting creators, users, and sellers.
On February 11 (local time), CEO Choi Soo-yeon took the stage as a panelist in the second plenary session, themed “The Future of Sustainable AI.” The session featured a keynote speech by United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres, followed by presentations from Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director Fatih Birol, and NAVER CEO Choi Soo-yeon. With an audience of around 300 attendees—including world leaders, government delegations, academics, and AI industry leaders—only two business executives were invited as session panelists: NAVER CEO Choi Soo-yeon and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai.
At the event, CEO Choi said, “NAVER has secured both core AI technologies and large-scale services used by tens of millions of people. This combination has given us the experience and expertise to create and develop a virtuous cycle that brings new opportunities in the digital space.” She emphasized, “Based on this, we will strive to collaborate with the global community to strengthen AI ecosystem diversity and provide global alternatives.”
CEO Choi highlighted NAVER’s AI-driven approach, stating, “NAVER is transforming vast amounts of user-generated content—comprising users’ questions and answers, as well as wisdom-filled writings—into AI tools designed to enhance daily life.” She continued, “Our AI solutions will serve as an intelligent bridge that strengthens connections between users, creators, and businesses.”
She provided specific examples of AI integration, noting, “On ‘NAVER WEBTOON,’ where content, structure, and production are optimized for the digital environment, our ‘AI Curator’ enhances content discovery by recommending diverse genres and stories to users, while the ‘AI Coloring Tool’ streamlines the creative process by allowing artists to focus on more detailed sketching work.”
CEO Choi stated, "In commerce, NAVER’s AI will move beyond keyword searches, interpreting users’ underlying needs and context to proactively recommend relevant products and benefits." She also expressed high expectations for the upcoming launch of “NAVER Plus Store,” an AI-powered shopping app.
The AI Action Summit is a global conference aimed at promoting the sustainable future and ethical use of AI technology. Following the 2023 London and 2024 Seoul conferences, this summit marks its third iteration.
NAVER has been a key participant in all three summits held to date. At the Seoul Summit held in May 2024, NAVER’s Global Investment Officer (GIO) Lee Hae-jin joined a leadership session, emphasizing the need for diverse, responsible AI models that respect the cultural values of each region to establish a safer and more ethical AI landscape.
During the closing session on the second day of the “AI Action Summit 2025,” International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin, who participated alongside NAVER CEO Choi Soo-yeon, drew attention by welcoming NAVER’s participation in the “Coalition for Sustainable AI.” Secretary-General Bogdan-Martin is the first female Secretary-General in ITU history and is a well-known pioneer in global ICT policy, leading innovative policies for digital inclusivity and sustainable development.
