NAVER Corporation (CEO Choi Soo-yeon) announced on December 30 that it has opened a NAVER Map usage guide page titled “Smart Shortcut to Explore Korea” to help foreign tourists enjoy their travel more smoothly using NAVER Map. The usage guide is provided in three languages: English, Chinese, and Japanese.
As the only mapping app in Korea supporting four languages (Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese), NAVER Map is establishing itself as an essential app for foreign visitors to Korea with usability that allows exploring rich local information and checking travel routes all in one app. Foreign users can easily explore places suited to their preferences by checking Korea's largest database of place information and vivid visitor reviews encompassing text, photos, and videos in multiple languages. Additionally, they can easily find the way to their destinations by using as real-time public transit arrival information, subway maps, boarding/disembarking guidance, and alternative transportation options.
The NAVER Map usage guide provides detailed multilingual guidance on ▲tips for exploring places worth visiting ▲how to use public transportation navigation. NAVER plans to produce leaflets and place them at major spots frequently visited by foreign tourists, such as Incheon Airport Tourist Information Centers, Airport Railroad Information Desks, and Myeong-dong Welcome Centers, so more foreign visitors can reference the guide.
Choi Seung-Lak, the head of NAVER Map services, said, "We aim to promote the usability of NAVER Map through various channels so that foreign tourists can enjoy a more convenient travel experience using just one app," adding "Notably, we plan to collaborate with international influencers to raise awareness of NAVER Map overseas, helping more foreign users integrate the app into their travel planning stages."
Since 2018, NAVER Map has continuously enhanced its multilingual (English, Chinese, Japanese) versions to offer international users a map service experience on par with Korean users. This year, aiming to support all key information for place exploration and navigation in multiple languages, they expanded multilingual support to visitor reviews and place filters, and improved translation quality for place pages and detailed public transportation information. To support foreign users' journeys more comprehensively as a must-have app for travel in Korea, NAVER Map plans to ▲improve accuracy and convenience of multilingual search by enhancing place-specialized LLM and ▲establish a system by next year to enable foreign users to conveniently book restaurants and events like performances directly within the app. </End>
