Team NAVER and Samsung C&T are teaming up to expand the future business landscape.
On February 28, NAVER CLOUD, NAVER LABS, and Samsung C&T Corporation’s Engineering and Construction Group announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the NAVER 1784 building in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, with the aim of collaborating on innovative solutions for homes and buildings and to develop cutting-edge ICT technology for construction projects in both Korea and Saudi Arabia.
The signing ceremony was attended by CEO Oh Secheol of Samsung C&T, President Chae Seon-ju of NAVER’s ESG and External Policy, CEO Kim Yu-won of NAVER CLOUD, and CEO Seok Sang-ok of NAVER LABS.
This MOU establishes a broad partnership between Team NAVER and Samsung C&T to digitalize spaces such as offices with futuristic technologies, venture into international markets with innovative smart city solutions, and boost the competitiveness of the construction sector by leveraging ICT technologies.
Samsung C&T plans to enhance collaboration by integrating various sophisticated technologies like AI, cloud computing, autonomous driving, robotics, and 5G, which are implemented in the “Tech Convergence Building” NAVER 1784 office, with its home and building platform. The partnership between the two companies will range from creating future office buildings to developing advanced platform solutions for B2B clients, ultimately paving the way for global market expansion.
With Team NAVER’s recently securing a digital twin project in Saudi Arabia, the alliance with Samsung C&T is poised to accelerate business growth within the region. Samsung C&T, with its ongoing involvement in Saudi Arabian projects like the Riyadh Metro and Neom Tunnel, brings a wealth of experience and infrastructural know-how from both Korea and abroad. Together, the firms envision a collaborative strategy for engaging in bids, construction, and management of various projects, including data centers, airports, shopping centers, and smart cities in Saudi Arabia, with a focus on strategic market growth.
Furthermore, the two parties will collaborate to integrate AI, robotics, autonomous driving, XR, and other cutting-edge ICT technologies into construction endeavors, aiming to enhance their competitive advantage and innovate productivity.
Jo Hye-jeong, head of the DxP Business Division at Samsung C&T, emphasized, “As we diversify our portfolio into new ventures beyond the realm of construction, partnering with NAVER, a leader in national technology, will rapidly propel us into emerging markets.”
Han Sanyoung, Head of Global DX & Innovation at NAVER CLOUD, remarked, “The partnership with Samsung C&T sets the stage for broadening our operations in Saudi Arabia and enriching Team NAVER’s technological capabilities, facilitating the digital transformation of spaces such as buildings, residences, and smart cities.”
