NAVER Pay on-site payment is now available at the merchants of PayPay, the leading QR payment provider in Japan.
NAVER Pay (CEO Park Sang-jin) has expanded its QR on-site payment offerings to include PayPay merchants through a collaborative payment network with Alipay Plus. PayPay is the top QR payment brand in Japan, with over 3 million merchants.
Starting January 29, PayPay merchants displaying the Alipay Plus partner logo will accept on-site payments through NAVER Pay X Alipay Plus. This allows NAVER Pay users to enjoy hassle-free transactions without currency exchange across convenience stores, shopping malls, duty-free shops, and restaurants in Japan.
Over the past year, NAVER has steadily expanded its QR on-site payment service to other countries and regions. Currently, the service is available in a total of 65 countries and regions globally. NAVER Pay users can make payments with NAVER Pay money and points, eliminating the need for currency exchange and enjoying the same ‘point-draws’ benefits as they can in Korea.
According to a NAVER Pay spokesperson, “Expanding to PayPay merchants enables our users to enjoy the benefits of NAVER Pay across a wider array of payment terminals in Japan. We are committed to further enhancing our service to make NAVER Pay a vital tool for overseas travelers."
