Papago now offers accurate and natural translations in Arabic.
On February 1, NAVER CLOUD (CEO Kim Yu-won) announced that its AI translation service, “Papago,” has been updated to include Arabic translation, adding to the existing repertoire of 16 languages it can support.
Papago’s Arabic support will cover text, voice, and conversation translation initially, with plans to extend it to image translation later this year. This feature is expected to benefit Korean users traveling to Arab regions and Arabic-speaking visitors to Korea.
Papago delivers precise and context-sensitive translations, leveraging its proprietary artificial neural machine translation (NMT) technology and translation quality assessment models. Additionally, Papago is committed to capturing the languages’ cultural characteristics and nuances in its translations, continuously enhancing translation accuracy by gathering high-quality training data.
NAVER CLOUD’s Executive Director, Shin Joong-hwi, commented, “As one of the six official languages of the UN, Arabic is globally recognized as a diplomatic language and holds significant importance. This update is expected to greatly boost Papago’s competitive edge globally. Given the steady demand for Arabic translation services, we are committed to constantly improving our technology and services by actively incorporating user feedback to provide high-quality translation results.”
Papago is strengthening its presence both domestically and internationally, acknowledged for its exceptional translation technologies and ease of use. As of January, Papago’s global monthly active users (MAU) encompassing app and web platforms have surged to approximately 18.9 million, with international users increasing by 25% from the previous year to around 5.1 million.
