On September 26, NAVER CLOUD (CEO Kim Yoo-won) announced that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hyundai IT&E (CEO Kim Sung-il), an IT company within the Hyundai Department Store Group, on business collaborations through HyperCLOVA X.
Key representatives from both companies, including NAVER CLOUD’s CEO Kim Yoo-won and Hyundai IT&E’s CEO Kim Sung-il, were present at the signing ceremony. The partnership aims to research novel services and platforms based on HyperCLOVA X, jointly discover potential business opportunities, and strengthen their technical capabilities. In particular, the companies decided to focus on IT consulting and service development across diverse sectors, such as retail, food, and living, harnessing the power of hyperscale language models.
Through this MOU, NAVER CLOUD intends to explore various service models collaboratively, broadening business opportunities not only within the Hyundai Department Store Group but in external ventures as well. Hyundai IT&E, an early member of the AI Alliance even before the official launch of “HyperCLOVA X,” has already been granted access to a testing environment and has been actively conducting various tests. Consequently, Hyundai IT&E is well-positioned to implement business initiatives immediately upon the official launch of HyperCLOVA X’s corporate services.
“HyperCLOVA X” is NAVER’s hyperscale AI, capable of enhancing services through integration with the client’s own data. Previously, NAVER CLOUD had introduced “Lewis,” an AI copywriter powered by “HyperCLOVA,” in collaboration with Hyundai IT&E, marking a pioneering achievement in the department store industry. “Lewis” has successfully reduced work hours by generating marketing copies tailored to user characteristics and product strengths.
NAVER CLOUD’s CEO Kim Yoo-won expressed, “With our partnership with Hyundai IT&E, we anticipate broader applications and innovations stemming from HyperCLOVA X. We will remain committed to bolstering our competitive edge through the expansion of the hyperscale AI ecosystem.”
Hyundai IT&E’s CEO Kim Sung-il added, “With the MOU as a starting point, we plan to delve actively into a range of businesses incorporating hyperscale language models. We will continuously strengthen our capabilities in generative AI technology, catering to our customers’ needs across various domains.”
