NAVER Cloud (CEO Kim Yu-won) announced on September 12 that Ilan Goldfajn, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and key officials visited NAVER’s second headquarters, 1784, on September 11.
This visit by the IDB president aimed to investigate digital transformation (DX) strategies for the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) nations. The IDB is actively working to enhance digital competitiveness in this region due to the disparity between the high demand for digital transformation and relatively limited supply. This visit was attended by key figures from NAVER and NAVER LABS, including the NAVER CLOUD CEO Kim Yu-won.
The IDB president and his delegation experienced firsthand the various technologies implemented in the NAVER 1784 building, including AI, robots, cloud, and digital twins. They went on to discuss potential collaboration approaches for AI and cloud to consistently aid the digital evolution of the Central and South American region. NAVER CLOUD highlighted its unique sovereign cloud, which offers custom AI and cloud solutions in alignment with country-specific data sovereignty and regulatory standards, and its hyperscale AI “HyperCLOVA X” along with their possible uses.
Amidst the aggressive moves of big tech companies from the United States and China, NAVER CLOUD is penetrating the global market with its “Sovereign AI,” an AI system that takes into account political and cultural contexts and targeting non-English speaking countries and those concerned with AI sovereignty. Based on the accumulated experience and technological prowess, NAVER CLOUD plans to consistently showcase Team NAVER’s innovations to the global audience and ramp up partnership efforts.
Ilan Goldfajn, the IDB president, commented, “As the pace of global digital transformation accelerates, there’s a growing demand associated with it. The expertise of NAVER CLOUD can play a pivotal role in aiding Central and South American nations in their journey towards digital transformation and AI sovereignty.”
NAVER’s second headquarters building, 1784, is the world’s first robot-friendly building, a tech convergence space that continually evolves through the integration of advanced technology and space. The innovative technological experiments NAVER is attempting through 1784 have garnered global attention. As of July, over 4,000 people from 54 countries, including the Under Secretaries of the US Department of State and Department of Homeland Security, foreign ministers and vice ministers from five Pacific Island nations, and the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), have visited NAVER 1784.
