NAVER Pay (CEO Park Sang-jin) announced that it is launching NAVER Pay money and point QR on-site payment services at all Alipay merchants throughout China.
NAVER Pay QR payments can now be used at all locations in China where Alipay payments are accepted, including Hangzhou where the 2023 Asian Games are being held. Customers can make payments by presenting their QR codes or by scanning the QR codes provided at the store using the in-app camera, at any payment location displaying the "Alipay Plus" logo, including airports, department stores, supermarkets, taxis, and more.
Depending on the store's QR payment setup, customers can select "Alipay Plus" from the on-site payment QR screen to utilize the dedicated QR code generated, or they can scan it using the in-app QR-only camera. Payments can be made conveniently using NAVER Pay points or money without the need for currency exchange. If the available balance is lower than the payment amount, the payment will be charged in increments of KRW 10,000 via the connected account. NAVER Pay's global QR payment service is accessible through both the NAVER Pay app and the NAVER app.
As the official sponsor of the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, opening on September 23, Alipay Plus exclusively provides payment services at major event-related areas such as Asian Games venues and athlete villages. All national team athletes, officials, and spectators visiting Hangzhou can make payments using NAVER Pay.
Starting from the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, NAVER Pay is now the only simple payment option in Korea accepted at Alipay and UnionPay merchants throughout China. A NAVER Pay representative stated, "With the Hangzhou Asian Games as our starting point, we will expand our global payment partnerships to provide NAVER Pay's unrivaled experiences and benefits to more countries," adding, "We are also preparing to enable NAVER Pay QR payments at all Alipay Plus merchants in Japan by the end of the year."
