NAVER Donates 30 Billion KRW to Seoul National University Hospital for Pioneering Research in the Digital Bio Field

NAVER Corporation (CEO Choi Soo-yeon) has announced a donation of 30 billion KRW over a span of three years to Seoul National University Hospital to support research in the digital bio field. This represents the largest single donation ever received for research funding at the hospital.

The donation ceremony took place on the 17th at Seoul National University Hospital, attended by NAVER's CEO, Choi Soo-Yeon, and Seoul National University Hospital’s President & CEO, Kim Young-Tae, along with other officials.
Through this funding, NAVER aims to make a significant impact by supporting innovative and challenging digital bio research at Seoul National University Hospital, contributing to the cultivation of medical scientists and the development of future medical advancements. The hospital plans to utilize the donated funds to foster an environment where researchers can fully engage in their studies and effectively manage their research outcomes, thus establishing a research-oriented culture within the hospital.
NAVER’s CEO Choi Soo-Yeon stated "As hyperscale AI technology is anticipated to accelerate the digital transformation in the global medical field, we recognized the societal significance of empowering medical scientists and promoting interdisciplinary research.” She added, “Given Seoul National University Hospital's exceptional talents and research infrastructure, we have high expectations for achieving world-class research outcomes and successful commercialization. Through continuous support and collaboration, we aim to contribute to the development of digital bio talents and the growth of the industry."

Meanwhile, NAVER has been incorporating a range of AI-based healthcare solutions including "Smart Survey," "Patient Summary," "Voice EMR" (voice recognition for medical records), and "CLOVA CareCall" as well as the business collaboration tool "NAVER WORKS" into hospitals. These efforts are aimed at minimizing the workload of medical professionals and enhancing the overall patient experience. NAVER plans to unveil an advanced hyperscale AI technology called "HyperCLOVA X" in August. <END>
