NAVER Cloud (CEO Kim Yoo-won) announced that its business collaboration tool, 'NAVER WORKS,' has now garnered 4.5 million global users. The NAVER WORKS AI Secretary (tentative name) is also set to be introduced, turning NAVER WORKS into an AI superapp capable of handling all types of tasks.
NAVER WORKS’ global customers more than quadrupled in two years … with 430,000 global companies and 4.5 million users
During the "LINE WORKS DAY 2023" business conference held in Japan in February, WORKS MOBILE disclosed the number of client companies and users who recently adopted NAVER WORKS. The number of global companies using NAVER WORKS increased from 100,000 in 2020 to 430,000 in the last quarter of the previous year, with the total number of users surpassing 4.5 million.

Amid the pandemic, NAVER WORKS has expanded its business by developing and providing various features that are suitable for a hybrid work environment that combines working from home and working in the office. In particular, the integration of external users to NAVER WORKS was the most highly received, significantly improving convenience by enabling seamless communication not only with company colleagues but also with users from other companies who use NAVER WORKS or LINE messenger. Currently, external users integrated into NAVER WORKS amount to 840,000 million, and those integrated via LINE messenger total about 21 million.
Furthermore, NAVER WORKS has dominated the share and performance in the Japanese market, with its annual recurring revenue (ARR) hitting JPY 10 billion in the third and fourth quarters of 2022. The ARR is a key indicator of annual revenue from customers with contracts and is used to understand the business situation of Software as a Service (SaaS) companies and predict future growth. The JPY 10 billion ARR was made possible within seven years of business in the country with only one product, making it even more remarkable.
NAVER WORKS can cater to all parts of a business … set to evolve into an AI superapp
NAVER Cloud plans to evolve NAVER WORKS into an AI superapp. At the NAVER developer conference “DEVIEW 2023” held at the end of February, NAVER Cloud announced its plans to integrate Team NAVER's AI technology and infrastructure into NAVER WORKS to enhance work convenience and strengthen its global competitiveness. By leveraging AI technology in text, audio, and video, the company plans to enhance its features, including sentence creation and audio interfaces.

NAVER WORKS AI Secretary, which aims to provide every user with a personal AI assistant, is also underway. Upon the launch of this feature, users can collect information easily without an additional learning process, similar to asking an actual secretary. For instance, the AI secretary can assist the user by understanding a conversation’s content to organize it into a note, write a to-do list, and even provide information about the user's parked car or delivery status.
This innovation has the potential to advance the digital transformation of companies and aid in the development of an AI superapp necessary for the operation of smart buildings and cities.
