NAVER Cloud (CEO Park Weon-gi, Kim Yoo-won) held the annual conference “NAVER Cloud SUMMIT 2022 (hereinafter the Summit),” where it shared its technologies and service knowledge. This year, under the slogan, “Connecting to Hyperscale,” NAVER’s knowledge and various business cases, including service redundancy, disaster recovery technologies, AI, and data, were presented at 4 keynotes and 40 sessions.

NAVER Cloud leaping forward as a global leader with Team NAVER
In the first keynote, NAVER Cloud CEO Park Weon-gi shared NAVER Cloud’s mid to long-term road map and vision, which is to lead Team NAVER’s B2B services and leap forward to become a global leader. He also emphasized NAVER Cloud’s capabilities as a leading communication service provider (CSP) in Korea as well as a top 5 CSP in the Asia-Pacific region since its launch, presenting a goal to grow as a global CSP, and among the top 3 in the Asia-Pacific region through localization strategies in new markets and collaboration with global companies. For this goal, the concept of a “sovereign cloud” was mentioned, and it aims to protect data sovereignty based on local data centers. As NAVER Cloud offers a high level of sovereign clouds, it has attracted a lot of attention in Europe. As such, NAVER Cloud plans to actively cooperate with various global companies and accelerate its expansion into global markets.
Park also shared NAVER Cloud’s technologies and efforts for stable services. NAVER Cloud has implemented a seven-level redundancy system for its services and infrastructure to secure service continuity and established a systemic business continuity planning (BCP) and regular training.
Moreover, Park said, “NAVER Cloud, while being a latecomer, has prepared for further growth as a global cloud leader within a short period of five years as a result of always confronting challenges instead of taking an easy road. NAVER Cloud will continue to exert efforts to provide ‘opportunities’ for everyone.”
Innovation and value of work made possible through NAVER Works
In the second keynote, Works Mobile CEO Han Kyu-heung introduced NAVER Works’ global success strategy and the field-oriented innovation and value of work made possible through NAVER Works. Han mentioned changes in the service centered on mobile and message as the factor behind the success of NAVER Works (LINE Works in Japan), which has topped the business chatting market in Japan for six consecutive years since 2017.
Han also emphasized that NAVER Works goes beyond a collaboration tool to provide all functions and services necessary within a company and is collaborating with Team NAVER for greater innovation to become a mobile front-end platform in the business-to-business (B2B) market.
In addition, Han said, “Our goal is to provide everyone with an AI personal assistant by integrating NAVER’s AI technologies and infrastructure. As an all-in-one portal in a B2B market that can provide all functions and services necessary for work, we will ensure that people working in any industry can work fast and efficiently without being restricted by time and place.”
Innovation and value of NAVER Cloud leading DX in finance and health-care sectors
For the last keynote, NAVER Financial CTO Lee Seung-bae introduced the company’s digital transformation story and shared measures to grow together with the finance/fintech market. NAVER Financial has provided users with new experiences and values, such as the Alternative Credit Scoring System (ACSS), post-payment, and fast payout, by using digital technologies and data analysis, and plans to connect NAVER Financial’s technological capabilities that are useful for finance and fintech businesses with the NAVER Cloud platform to share them externally. In particular, Lee emphasized that NAVER Financial would be the first in Team NAVER to transition its service and system to the public cloud.
The last keynote was delivered by the NAVER Healthcare Research Institute Director Na Gun-ho. He introduced NAVER CARE, which aims for paperless and touchless health care, and presented the trend and cases for cloud-based digital healthcare solutions. Na mentioned “lifecycle health care, integration and compatibility of medical data, and AI-based efficient work environment” as keywords for health care that could create synergy with the cloud. Na also talked about the NAVER Cloud-Based Post, Personalized, Precision-Hospital Information System (P-HIS) that provides standardized medical data possessed by hospitals as an example, and said that various medical solutions including pre-appointment screening and voice electronic medical records (EMR) were developed for a more efficient medical environment. NAVER CARE plans to strengthen collaboration with Team NAVER to make its healthcare services accessible externally.
