NAVER Corp. (KRX: 035420) became the first among Korean Internet companies and the second tech platform in the world to join “EV100,” a global initiative bringing together forward-looking companies committed to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
EV100 is a global eco-friendly initiative led by the Climate Group, an international non-profit based in London. The goal is to drive businesses to transition their fleets to EVs by 2030.
NAVER is the second Internet company in the world to join EV100, a decision indicating its plans to accelerate and implement a more robust ESG approach and environmental management system. NAVER’s recent move to join EV100 made NAVER the first Internet company in the world to join both RE100 and EV100. NAVER was in fact the first Internet company in Korea to join RE100 last August.
More specifically, NAVER plans to fully transition all of the vehicles owned and rented by the company to EVs, and to set up EV charging stations in all of its office buildings. A total of 82 EV charging stations have been built in Green Factory and 1784 which are NAVER's headquarters, and the transition to EVs for work vehicles is ongoing.
“NAVER will use eco-friendly vehicles to reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions from vehicle fuels, while further encouraging the use of renewable energy sources to cut down on indirect greenhouse gas emissions from electricity in order to establish ourselves as the global leader in ESG management,” said Lim Dong-a, the executive director of the environment program at NAVER.

Meanwhile, 128 enterprises including HP, DHL, and IKEA have joined EV100 globally, with NAVER becoming the third company in Korea to join EV100.
