NAVER Corp. (KRX: 035420) announced today that it has applied its AI technology and platform know-how to enhance product search, recommendation, and catalog results on Japan’s LINE Shopping Service for the first time.

NAVER is expanding the application of its increasingly sophisticated AI technologies, such as shopping search, product recommendations and catalog creation capabilities, to the Japanese market. Based on these enhancements, the company expects to steadily advance its technological competitiveness to become a global technology platform.
NAVER’s search technology is integrated with its AI technology and shopping platform know-how on LINE Shopping. NAVER plans to systematize various product data in Japan, based on shopping-related search technology, to build 1 billion product databases for LINE Shopping. This will provide Japanese shoppers with more refined, catalog-based product search results and support more convenient shopping experiences on mobile devices.
‘Simple Filters’ are applied in LINE Shopping to check product search results based on desired criteria, such as brand, category and price. Various product information can be conveniently compared by applying filters, such as ‘price comparison,’ ‘related products’ and ‘purchase options.’ Considering that Japanese users often buy and sell secondhand products, NAVER has also applied the ‘secondary goods price’ filter to the service.
Along with catalog-based shopping search, NAVER plans to sequentially apply integrated shopping search, search optimization by query and AI recommendation technology.
“NAVER’s unparalleled search technology and shopping AI technology know-how proved in Korea is making meaningful progress toward becoming a global technology platform,” said Kim Jung-woo, NAVER Shopping Aggregation Leader in charge of shopping search. “Based on NAVER’s excellent technology competitiveness, we will strive to enhance various digital shopping experiences and search for global sellers and users.”
