NAVER D2 Startup Factory (D2SF) announced its new investment in two startup companies that support the growth of online small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Laplace Technologies developed a solution that can analyze business status through data, and recommend a customized business strategy. New Vessel is a brand aggregator that acquires SME brands for further business growth and shares profit.

Laplace Analytics, Laplace Technologies’ data analytics solution, enables SMEs to easily understand business data without any professional development skills and to execute their enterprise strategies. It provides analysis on cohorts, customer lifetime value or retention rate as well as business problems to offer business insights. The customized strategies are provided in action templates for SMEs to easily comprehend and follow. Currently, more than 80 brands are using Laplace Technologies’ solution, which also provides easy links for sellers who are using business platforms and services, such as NAVER’s Smart Store or Café 24.
New Vessel’s brand aggregator is a business that increases brand value and shares profits by expanding global business channels, optimizing operation and supply chain, and discovering/developing new products through brand acquisition or partnerships so that SMEs can take a leap forward and grow. The brand aggregator business is receiving lots of positive feedback from small brands that need breakthroughs to overcome growth limits. New Vessel is planning to secure partnerships with Korean e-commerce brands with high growth potential.
Through this investment, NAVER plans to work closely with Laplace Technologies and New Vessel to support stable growth of online SMEs that established their businesses on NAVER Smart Store. In January 2022, NAVER Corp. launched the Commerce Solution Market beta service, a collection of technology solutions for strengthening online SME’s business competitiveness, and announced its plan to discover and cooperate with various technology startups to scale-up SMEs.
“NAVER and the two new startup companies that we’ve invested in have a common goal to support the scale-up of online SMEs. So, we do have various, potential opportunities to seek collaborations,” said Yang Sang-hwan, leader of NAVER D2 Startup Factory. “We will continue discovering and investing in tech solutions that can create synergies with NAVER and SMEs.”
NAVER D2SF has been investing in startups that supports SME scale-up, including Datarize (data-based marketing automation solution firm), Adriel (online ad optimization solution firm) as well as Deepixel and RECONLabs (AR commerce solution companies). The company is also recruiting startups for new investments and collaborations.
