NAVER Signs Agreement with Brookfield to Secure Computing Infrastructure, Meeting Precondition for NVIDIA’s Strategic Equity Investment
October 27, 2026
By signing a $9 billion agreement with Brookfield to secure computing infrastructure, NAVER has met the precondition for NVIDIA’s strategic equity investment.
Accordingly, NAVER plans to promptly complete the process for a paid-in capital increase through a third-party allotment to NVIDIA. This will also bring the 1-gigawatt-scale global AI factory business that NAVER, NVIDIA, and Brookfield are jointly pursuing into the full-scale execution phase.
First, Brookfield will establish a special purpose vehicle (SPV), tentatively named Asset Co., invest up to $9 billion to acquire AI infrastructure such as GPUs and data centers, and then provide computing power to NAVER Cloud, the AI factory operator.
With this infrastructure as a foundation, NAVER and NAVER Cloud will lead the AI factory business, drawing on the in-house capabilities they have accumulated in building and operating their own large-scale GPU clusters, as well as their know-how in data center operations.
They plan to begin operating at a capacity of 55 megawatts (MW) in the first half of 2027, scale up to 200 MW in 2028, and expand the business into overseas markets in phases, with the GAK Sejong hyperscale data center as the core hub.
Next, NVIDIA will collaborate on technology development centered on next-generation high-performance computing platforms such as DSX, helping to enhance the AI factory’s technological competitiveness and the efficiency of its infrastructure operations.
The agreement and the equity investment are significant in that they further strengthen the strategic partnership among NAVER, NVIDIA, and Brookfield while establishing a long-term cooperative relationship through which the three companies aim to lead the global AI infrastructure market.
In particular, NAVER expects that working with Brookfield will ease the burden of the initial investment required to build large-scale AI infrastructure. By putting in place a structure that ties usage fee payments to business revenue, the company anticipates being able to manage early-stage financial pressure and improve operational stability.
NAVER has also agreed to provide a payment guarantee for a period of up to eight years for the usage fee obligations of its subsidiary NAVER Cloud. This guarantee, however, is a measure to establish trust for the smooth execution of the agreement; in itself, it does not result in actual cash outflows or cost burdens for NAVER.
On the basis of this business structure, NAVER will secure both financial stability and scalability, actively respond to rapidly increasing demand for AI computing in domestic and overseas markets, and grow into a leading global AI infrastructure company.
Specific details on the paid-in capital increase through the third-party allotment will be provided at a later date. (End)
※ [Note] Although Asset Co. (tentative name) will be established with 100 percent of its capital contributed by Brookfield, it is expected to become a subsidiary of NAVER because NAVER is recognized as having control under the Korean International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS).
