NAVER (CEO Choi Soo-yeon) and AMD (CEO Lisa Su) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on March 18 to expand the AI ecosystem and collaborate on next-generation infrastructure. Held at 1784, NAVER’s second headquarters, the signing ceremony was attended by key executives from both companies.
Under the agreement, the two companies plan to build an ecosystem where AI technologies are seamlessly connected across diverse infrastructure environments, while enhancing technological flexibility. As a first step, NAVER and AMD will strengthen technical cooperation to build a high-performance GPU computing environment optimized for HyperCLOVA X, NAVER’s large language model (LLM). Through this collaboration, the companies plan to jointly advance the infrastructure technologies needed to operate AI models reliably.
NAVER has world-class full-stack AI capabilities, connecting the entire process from its in-house large language models, data centers, and cloud infrastructure to large-scale user services through proprietary technologies. Leveraging this unmatched technological foundation, NAVER plans to serve as a core partner in deploying and scaling AMD’s next-generation infrastructure in real-world service environments.
Moving forward, NAVER and AMD will provide AI computing resources to academic researchers and pursue joint research projects, supporting the creation of a wide range of AI research outcomes across diverse infrastructure environments.
“This collaboration with AMD marks a meaningful step toward securing NAVER’s technological diversity and strengthening our competitiveness in AI infrastructure,” said Choi. “We will work together to expand the use of AMD platforms across NAVER Cloud and our broader AI services, while continuing to collaborate on next-generation tech stacks and service implementation.”
“As someone who also leads a technology company, it is especially meaningful to meet Lisa Su, who has set a new standard for technological innovation and leadership,” Choi added.
“With world-class AI capabilities and cloud platforms, NAVER is the ideal partner to innovatively implement AMD’s next-generation AI GPU technology,” said Su. “We look forward to working together to build an open AI ecosystem trusted by researchers, enterprises, and developers around the world.”
